A second hotel tower opened the following year. It opened on December 22, 2005, and included an 80,000 sq ft (7,400 m 2) casino and 652 rooms. The South Coast was built at a cost of $625 million. Coast Casinos was subsequently merged with Boyd Gaming. It includes a 137,232 sq ft (12,749.3 m 2) casino and a 25-story hotel with 2,163 rooms.Ĭoast Casinos purchased the site in 2001, and announced the South Coast project in April 2003.
